It's just me.

I'm Jay. I run 3K Window Cleaning on my own across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Ferndown.

I work from a water-fed pole system and purified water, which means I can reach third and fourth-floor windows without a ladder ever touching your house. It also means the glass dries clear on its own — no cloth marks, no spotting round the edges.

Being a one-man round has an obvious limit: I can only clean so many houses in a week. But it has an obvious advantage too. You get the same person every time, you can ring me directly, and if something isn't right I'm the one who comes back and sorts it.

Most of my work comes from people passing my number to a neighbour. That only keeps happening if the job's done properly, so that's the whole business plan.

I'm properly set up: public liability insurance in place and everything else the work requires, all kept current. If you want to see the paperwork before I start, ask and I'll send it over — it's a fair thing to want, especially on a commercial job.

Why I work like I do

I'm a family man, and that's the honest reason I'm out in the cold in February with a pole in my hands. Everything I do here is for them.

My daughter has decided she's part of the business. She has her own pole, she is extremely thorough about the bottom two feet of any window, and she works exclusively for chocolate buttons.

If you see a small person in pink doing quality control on your windows, that's her. She's not on the payroll yet.
